Misinformation Runs

Rampant

Political Campaigns are funny things and desperation really brings out some strange and unfortunate behavior. Our current Council member’s fondness for misinformation has risen again in the form of a letter that gives the appearance it is from some sort of parent-teacher group but the envelope says “paid for by Steve Adams for City Council.” We can all remember the recent press article that reported his “blatant misstatement” at the candidate’s forum, well here we go again.

In this letter paid for by the Adams Campaign, not parents or teachers, he purports to express my view on Alvord Unified School District. His assertions couldn’t be farther from the truth, in fact they are False.

I have never called for or supported any plan to disband Alvord School District.

I have worked tirelessly on the Alvord Educational Foundation Board to support students and teachers through grants and scholarships. In our 25 year history we have awarded several hundred thousand dollars in scholarships to the students of Alvord School District.

We have just awarded La Sierra High School over $5800 for laboratory equipment for the science program and $4000 to Loma Vista for their physical fitness program. Loma Vista was the only Middle School in the State to be the recipient of the 2011 Middle School of the year award for the California Governor's challenge.

For whatever reason Mr. Adams has always been reluctant to be a partner in this effort. All the while making wild claims about his involvement with Alvord.

His most recent action really tells the story when he promised Alvord School District $20,000 dollars for their youth sports program and failed to follow through with ANY money.

My endorsements include many past and present members of the Alvord District:

                Dr. Damon Castillo---Superintendent AUSD (Ret.)

                Zack Earp---School Board Member (Ret.)

                Grey Frandsen---President, Alvord Educational Foundation

Matt Hurtado--- Director at Large Teachers Union

                Sandy Anderson---Teacher

Donna Wandro---Candidate for Alvord School Board and Parent

                Mia Alvarado---Past PTA Vice President

Esperanza Ramirez--- Padres Unidos at Norte Vista High School

These are a few among the many others in the diverse areas of Alvord Unified School District that support my candidacy for Ward 7 City Council Member.

In addition please keep in mind that of the two people who signed the letter one is related to Mr. Adams assistant and there is no record of any teacher by that name being currently employed by Alvord School District.

Question: Why would I work so hard for a District that I supposedly want to disband?

Answer:  I wouldn’t and I don’t.

Sincerely,    John Brandriff
